Zenit will face Celtic in Europa League round of 32

On Monday, 11th December, the matches of the UEFA Europa League round of 32 were drawn at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Thanks to "lottery fairy" Eric Abidal, Zenit Sankt Petersburg will travel to Glasgow and face Scottish traditional club Celtic FC.

Celtic had finished third in their UEFA Champions League group and have therefore entered the UEFA Europa League intermediate stage. The first leg will take place on 15th February, a week later both teams will meet at the Krestovsky.

Until now, Zenit and Celtic have not met before in any European competition. However, the Blue-White-Sky Blues’s fans have good memories of games against teams from Glasgow: In 2008, Zenit beat Rangers FC in the final to win the UEFA Cup.
