Zenit start with a draw
Zenit St. Petersburg managed to take a point at the Parken Stadium in the first match of the UEFA Europa League season 2018/19 – the team of Sergei Semak and FC Copenhagen separated with a 1-1 tie.
Shortly before the halftime break, Slovakian international Róbert Mak had put the blue-white-sky-blues ahead. However, midway through the second half Pieros Sotiriou scored the equalizer for the hosts. An equitable end result, as Zenit’s coach pointed out after the game: „As we said before the match, the group is fairly even and the game also turned out to be fairly balanced.“
The next international game for St. Petersburg will take place on 4 October when Slavia Prague visit the Krestovsky Stadium.
