Liverpool FC receives the Nine Values Cup
Young Participants of the Seventh Season of the Gazprom International Children’s Social Programme Football for Friendship voted and chose to award Liverpool FC with the Nine Values Cup. The Cup is an award given annually to the most socially responsible football club.
This year, children were choosing between the clubs which played in the 2019 UEFA Champions League. The vote took place within the final events of the Seventh Season of Football for Friendship in Madrid. Young Participants chose the most socially responsible team in the International Friendship Camp. The three finalists were Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Tottenham. The winner was determined on June 1, right before the Football for Friendship World Championship Final which took place on the UEFA Pitch located in the Plaza Mayor square.
Liverpool has become the sixth holder of the Nine Values Cup. From 2015, FC Barcelona (Spain), Al-Wahda (Syria), FC Bayern Munich (Germany), and Real Madrid FC (Spain).
In 2018, Young Participants chose the most socially responsible team from the teams participating in the World Cup. That year, they decided that the Brazil national team is worthy of the Nine Values Cup. The Award Ceremony took place on the eve of the friendly match Panama-Brazil.
The Nine Values Cup is a special award of the Football for Friendship programme that is annually given by participants to an adult professional football club. In 2015 the Nine Values Cup was made for the first time by the famous German sculptor Achim Ripperger. The Cup depicts a Young Player holding our planet designed like a ball in his hands. It symbolizes one of the key goals of the F4F programme, which is to promote among youngsters the basic human values.
The final events of the Seventh Season of F4F take place in Madrid from May 28 to June 2. More than 800 people take part in them from countries of Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South Americas.
The International Children’s Social Programme Football for Friendship has been implemented by Gazprom since 2013. The key values promoted by the programme's participants are friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions, and honour. Football for Friendship is supported by the UEFA, FIFA, International Olympic Committee, football federations of different countries, children’s international charity funds, famous athletes, and the leading football clubs of the world. For the previous seasons, the programme has brought more than 6 thousand participants together and acquired over 5 million followers including famous athletes, artists, and politicians.
