F4F Ambassador from Uganda to present song about Nine Values at the Football for Friendship World Championship
Davis Kanyola, a 22-year-old student from Uganda wrote a song about the Nine Values of the Gazprom International Children's Social Programme Football for Friendship. On June 1 he will perform it with his music band in Madrid at the Awarding Ceremony after the Football for Friendship World Championship Final.
Davis' inspiration for the Football for Friendship Nine Values song was the participation of the Uganda delegation in the Sixth Season of the programme in Moscow in 2018.
He's studying at the University of Kisubi doing a Bachelor’s Degree in Public relations and Mass Communication. His free time he spends playing football and goes to the Aidenal School of Soccer Art (ASOSA). Charles Lwanga, a Young Coach, also goes to ASOSA. He was the one to tell Davis about the values of Football for Friendship: friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions, and honour. Last year, Charles was a part of Uganda delegation in the Sixth Season of the programme. Together with other Young Players under the supervision of famous football players, Charles learned about the essential values in the Nine Values School. When he returned to Uganda, he continued to promote the basic principles of Football for Friendship among his peers in the Soccer School. This story is a vivid example of how the philosophy of the programme finds a response in every person regardless of their age, gender, nationality, and physical abilities.
Many children start working on the projects of their own when they return home after participating in the project. They write books, start blogs, develop football schools, and open charitable organizations. Upon their return home, Young Ambassadors tell their peers about the programme, and meet with the most influential people in their countries: presidents, ministers, princes. Some children have already received the invitation to become International Good Will Ambassadors. For example, Ananya Kamboj, a Young Journalist, wrote a book "My Journey from Mohali to St. Petersburg" in which she told about the Nine Values of the programme and her impression of talking with other Young Participants.
Davis started working on the song in December 2018, when it was released it became popular in Uganda. In March 2019, Davis Kanyola was invited to perform in Madrid.
"I am incredibly happy to have received the invitation to present the song at the Football for Friendship World Championship. I am convinced this song will let the Participants look at the world differently: at the world of equal opportunities, free of any barriers and borders. We have to remember the key human values and always follow them in sports and in life. I hope that my performance in Madrid will become the first step in my collaboration with the Football for Friendship organizers. I dream of my song becoming the official hymn of the programme," shares Davis Kanyola, the author of the song about the Nine Values of the Football for Friendship programme.
The final events of the Football for Friendship programme will be taking place in Madrid from May 28 up to June 02. The International Football for Friendship for Friendship and the Football for Friendship World Championship will become the central events with the World Championship Final held in the very heart of Madrid – on the Plaza Mayor square.
The International Children’s Social Programme Football for Friendship has been implemented by Gazprom since 2013.
