Online Concert announcing the Year of Germany in Russia 2020/2021

An unforgettable performance by Russian and German virtuosos will mark the beginning of the Year of Germany in Russia.

On Friday, 2 October 2020, a concert by the Russian-German Music Academy Orchestra conducted by maestro Valery Gergiev and featuring violin virtuoso Frank Peter Zimmerman will be streamed online as part of the Year of Germany in Russia project. GAZPROM Germania GmbH is the main sponsor of the Russian-German Music Academy since 2014.

The announced concert took place on 4 June 2017 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg as part of the Stars of the White Nights festival celebrating the year of Russian-German youth exchanges. The program includes chosen works of the brilliant Wolfgang Rihm, Ludwig van Beethoven and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The Russian-German Music Academy Orchestra has been playing together for more than 5 years and has proven itself as a professional young team. It is comprised of young performers of the largest German orchestras, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin and Dresden, as well as the representatives of Mariinsky theatre.

Touring Moscow, St. Petersburg and Berlin, the orchestra performs classic and modern music of Russian and German composers. The musicians of the orchestra are recognized for their high performing skills, the orchestra is well known for dramatic programs and youthful energy.
