Concert of the Russian-German Music Academy 2020

Online concert marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II

On 4 December 2020, a concert by the Russian-German Music Academy Orchestra and Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Valery Gergiev and featuring virtuoso German pianist Severin von Eckardstein, will be streamed online as part of the Year of Germany in Russia project.

The concert was held on 29 November 2020 at Mariinsky Concert Hall in St. Petersburg as part of the Year of Germany in Russia project. The program included chosen works of Ludwig van Beethoven (Piano Concerto No.1 in C major, Op.15) and Dmitri Shostakovich (Symphony No. 9 in Es-Dur, op. 70).

The international cultural project “Russo-German Music Academy online — for the 75th Anniversary of the End of World War II” was awarded first prize in the main category “Best Online Project” in the All-Russian competition “Culture Online” of St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum 2020. The project includes several online streamings that reached over four million viewers.
